Many Jews consider the 49-day period of the counting of the omer between Passover and Shavuot to be a time of semi-mourning when instrumental music is not allowed. This has led to a tradition of a cappella singing sometimes known as sefirah music.

Different People have different practices regarding when during this period regular music is not allowed. Therefore, we decided to once again bring you two streams this Sefira!

From after Pesach until Shavuot, when you click the listen link on OlamRadio, you will be able to choose to listen to either our regular stream or our special Sefira time Acappella, non-instrumental vocal only stream.

This way you can choose what type of music you want to listen to this Sefira.

We pride ourselves on listening to what our listeners have to say. We made this station for you, and we take all the comments and suggestions you send in and really review them and try to make them work.
With that in mind lots of people let us know that they didn’t want to listen to so many commercials. You must remember ads is what pays our bills so we cant get rid of them all together, but we have reduced the amount of ads we play per hour to under 2 minutes. it used to be about 6 min an hour now under 2 min. thats pretty great ain’t it?? Well enjoy more music and less ads but please remember to support our sponsors with out them we are nothing.

We got an email from a listener saying that they wanted to support the station but had nothing to advertise and they were wondering what they could do.

The original songs and fresh style of 8th Day has attracted one of LA’s top mixing talent, Andy Haller, who has worked with major record companies like Hollywood, Columbia and Epic Records. 8th Day is the musical product of the Marcus family (nephews of Avraham Fried) based in Southern California. All songs are written by the band, for the band, and this recording features 12 fresh songs with hits like “Krenitz” (Babinyu), “Wake Up,” and of course the title track “Brooklyn.” The album is full of treats from guest artists like Fernando Rao on bass, and Shaya Lieberman (of Isaiah and the Prophets) on keys, and Gidon Shikler (of the Rockrites) on sax.
